Notes: A beautiful moon-lit piece capturing what appears to be the Five-Storied Pagoda (五重塔) of Kofuku-ji Temple (興福寺)(founded 669 CE), Nara prefecture. Depicting a view across the tiled hip-rafters (“Yosemune-zukuri” (寄棟造)) of the temple’s East Golden Hall (東金堂) toward the Kasuga mountain range beyond; the five-story pagoda measures at over fifty metres tall & remains Japan’s second tallest wooden pagoda. Kofuku-ji is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.
