Notes: A truly spectacular piece celebrating the “Rock-Splitting Cherry Tree” (石割桜 “Ishiwari-Zakura”) in all its bloom-full glory. Over 380 years-old, the tree has grown through a fissure in a large granite boulder, becoming a National Natural Monument & designated National Treasure in 1923. Located outside Morioka District Court, Iwate prefecture, the tree is wonderfully lit at night - where it is an even greater beauty to behold!
