Notes: Okuyama published a remarkable portfolio of woodblock prints in homage to the original works of Post-Impressionists Vincent Van Gogh (フィンセント・ファン・ゴッホ), Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (アンリ・ド・トゥールーズ＝ロートレック), and Paul Cézanne (セザンヌ). Highly collectable, this portfolio is a testament to how Okuyama has captured the fine details, fluid brushstrokes, and textures of these masters within the precise intricacy, registration, and color block work of traditional Japanese woodblock printing. Throughout his life, Gihachiro Okuyama greatly admired Van Gogh's work, and after 1954, once he had established his own workshop, Okuyama Hanga Kobo, in Matsudo, he focused on producing prints inspired by the Post-Impressionist masters.
